Now taking applications for the 2012 Worstead Food and Produce Marquee and for catering concessions
We are now taking applications for catering concessions for the 2012 Festival. As we are 'The Best of Norfolk Food' we want applicants to be of the highest quality and products, wherever possible, to be locally and ethically sourced. We also welcome applications for food and produce suppliers in the Food Marquee. The marquee is bigger and better than last year and we already have chefs lined up to demonstrate their skills this year. Sam Bryant of Strattons Hotel, Swaffham and Steve Norgate of The Beechwood, North Walsham are joining us again this year (they had such a good time last year!). If you have really good products or produce and want to join us or even give a demonstration please ask for an application pack. Lorraine at food@worsteadfestival.org
Pye Bakers and Icarus Hines
Grimsby of Pye Bakers, Norwich and Icarus Hines, butcher of Sheringham, both added to the Food Event last year showing off their skills in bakery and butchery and they really entertained us - throwing dough and cutting up meat (less gruesome than it sounds!) Thankyou both so much! Hopefully see you again this year.
Gateaux Fabuleux
Lynn at Gateaux Fabuleux was brilliant, bringing her indulgent world of handmade French Patisseries to brighten up the Food Event. Her demonstration (her very first ever and you'd never have guessed!) was loved by the kids. Thank you, Lynn.

Get involved in some old fashioned fun during your visit to this year’s festival.

Have a go at a range of activities, including tug-of-war, welly throwing, egg chucking and bowling for a pig and more - details soon!

We can promise you a taste of village fetes of days gone by when you step up for your go at the games area.

And it’s not all about distance, some of the competitions are about accuracy, so if you’re not big and burly with arms as thick as tree trunks, don’t despair!

There will be a small charge for entries and prizes for winners. Some competitions will be open to all ages, while others will be for adults only. But we promise it’ll be as much fun watching your friends and parents getting covered in eggs as it will actually taking part!

Tug of War teams wanted!

We’re on the look out for eight tug of war teams to take part in a competition on both days.
Teams of eight people – six pullers, a coach and a reserve – are needed and can be made up of either or both genders.
Each team will need a sponsor, probably a pub or a business, to pay a small fee and then the team members will be given free entrance on the day they take part. Winners will receive a prize.

We want a four-team competition to take place each day and it’s on a first come, first served basis. Registering before the event is vital.
